The Pembroke Curling Centre is hosting an open house at their location on Herbert Street this weekend.
President Elect Bill Cheliak says 2022/2023 will mark the 150th anniversary of having a curling centre in Pembroke.
He adds they started out curling on the river and have moved a few times in the last 150-years and are currently located at 428 Herbert Street, right next to the Kinsmen Pool in Pembroke.
The Pembroke Curling Centre will have some heritage memorabilia on display as part of the open house event on Saturday, February 26th, 2022.
Cheliak says there will also be a closest to the button (the centre of the rings) contest, a golf simulator to try out with a pancake breakfast and chili contest for lunch.
All the fun kicks off at 9:00am on Saturday and will continue until 3:00pm.
Cheliak says those looking to try curling are asked to bring a clean pair of shoes and kids will need a helmet to go on the ice.
There’s no cost to attend and check out the Pembroke Curling Centre, but there is a small fee for the contest and food options.
The Pembroke Curling Centre recently underwent extensive renovations to add in an accessible ramp and accessible washrooms.
