Petawawa Mayor Gary Serviss is asking for another four years as head of town council.
The former teacher and long-time council member says he’s proud of the work he and council did in his first term as mayor, especially when it comes to infrastructure.
The incumbent says in the last term of council, cooperation and communication was key.
If he’s re-elected, Serviss says he wants to continue work on ensuring an adequate supply of affordable housing, although he notes that the housing crisis has eased somewhat recently with the addition of new apartments.
The federal government recently also committed to build over 11-hundred military housing units on federal land in the area, which will also help ease the housing crunch in Petawawa.
The ballot on October 26th will list one other name under the choices for mayor.
Serviss’ only challenger is Wayne Bando. See our story on Bando here https://www.pembroketoday.ca/2026/08/25/challenger-for-mayors-job-brings-municipal-experience/
