There’s been a number of significant thunderstorms in Renfrew County and across the Ottawa Valley this month (July 2021).
Two tornadoes touched down in the area last week.
The Northern Tornadoes Project confirmed an EF1 tornado hit the Beachburg area on July 13th, 2021.
Wind speeds in the Beachburg area reached up to 170 kilometers an hour.
Two days later, the Northern Tornadoes Project also confirmed an EF2 Tornado hit Lake Travers in Algonquin Park.
The Lake Travers tornado hit around 5:10 pm on July 15th, 2021 and wind speeds reached up to 190 kilometers an hour.
Lake Travers runs into the Petawawa River and is located in the northeastern part of Algonquin Park.
