Bell customers in the Deep River area will be getting better cell phone reception.
A new 22 meter (72 foot) tower will be built off of Highway 17.
The Bell tower will help fill a known coverage gap in the area and is expected to significantly improve cellular and LTE connectivity.
The new “meso” tower is designed to look like a lamp post to be more aesthetically pleasing to the area.
Residents in close proximity to the tower had the opportunity to provide feedback and a notice was also placed in the local newspaper.
No objections were received from the community.
Deep River council supported the installation of the new tower at their virtual meeting Wednesday night (November 3rd, 2021).
The representative that spoke on behalf of Bell said the new tower will help relieve capacity on the two overloaded cellular towers to the north and south sides of Deep River.
