This weeks “experience this” feature on 104.9 myFM is NorKi’s Snack Shack & O’Kenny Craft Spirits.
Both businesses are located at 2 International Drive and are one of the first things you see when you come into Pembroke.
Andrew Kenny the owner of O’Kenny Craft Spirits says they’ve stayed open throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
Kenny adds their products can be found at five different locations (O’Kenny Craft Spirits, Petawawa Esso, The Warehouse in Renfrew, MJ Butcher co. in Arnprior and Urban Reifen in Nepean) and he encourages other local businesses who are interested in featuring them to reach out..
Norm and Kim Lair of NorKi’s Snack Shack opened their location in the parking lot of O’Kenny Craft Spirits about 3-months ago.
One of the dishes at NorKi’s that is starting to develop a reputation is the valley renowned fish and chips, a half pound lightly battered haddock fish filet with homemade tartar sauce.
Other specialities at NorKi’s Snack Shack include the Smash Burger that’s smashed, seared and char-broiled, the Montreal smoked meat sandwiches, homemade pulled pork, homemade meatballs with marinara sauce and speciality poutines where you can transfer any menu items into the poutine.
Norm says they don’t have A/C in the snack shack, but the hotter it is the more people want to get out and he adds they also have a slushie machine to help cool off.
With lockdown restrictions starting to lift, O’Kenny’s and NorKi’s are welcoming events and groups to attend.
On the weekends there’s open mic Saturdays and tomorrow (August 14th) Jake Weckwerth will play a solo show from 2:00 to 6:00 pm.
