Crews with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) are currently holding a 9 hectare blaze outside of Griffith. The MNRF first reported the forest fire yesterday afternoon (May 28th). The fire has grown from 5 hectares to 9 hectares in the last 24 hours. Minister of Natural Resources and Forestry and local MPP, John Yakabuski, says we have some of the best fire fighting crews in the world right here in Ontario.
Yakabuski says they are closely watching situation across the province and locally. He encourages everyone who is enjoying the great outdoors to be responsible and follow all the guidelines when it comes to dealing with fires.
