Charges are pending against a 27-year-old from Pembroke following a stabbing incident on Nelson Street. The Upper Ottawa Valley OPP responded to call of an assault with an edged weapon around 10:00 am this morning (Feb. 14th) in a parking lot of the 400 block of Nelson Street. Constable Shawn Peever says the person of interest fled on foot and was arrested a short time later near John Street. He adds the victim was taken to hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. The OPP says this was not a random act and there’s no threat to public safety. The 27-year-old Pembroke resident remains in custody.
