Petawawa’s council has been given another mandate by voters for the next four years, and mayor Gary Serviss says the results speak volumes.
Serviss was the incumbent seeking another term against challenger Wayne Bando, and after securing a victory by more than 1,600 votes, he says residents don’t appear to want to change right now.
“I think it’s a statement by the residents that they were pleased with the progress that has been made over the last four years,” he says. “We’ve been given a mandate for the next four years and we want to continue to make progress to make Petawawa better than it is now.”
Serviss says there will be no transition period with the same council, so that means everyone can hit the ground running.
“It’s going to be a busy four year with all the investment with CNL and Garrison Petawawa,” he says. “There’s lots of development going on in the town, and we have to ensure the infrastructure we have in place can keep pace with the development.”
