A newcomer to politics will lead Brudenell, Lyndoch and Raglan Township for the next four years.
Ken Seafield, who has done everything from teaching English in South Korea to working in road construction, says he is going to bring a fresh perspective to the job of mayor.
He says he’s familiar with everyone on council and he thinks they can work together.
Seafield says roads maintenance has emerged as the major issue as he speaks to residents.
He heard from one single mom whose case demonstrates how poor winter roads maintenance can really impact a person’s daily life.
He adds that he’d also like to see better utilization of the community centre in Palmer Rapids, noting that it sits empty too much.
He wants to remove the barriers to using the facility, and hopefully encourage the formation of more clubs and activities.
Seafield will be serving on council with the re-elected Valerie Jahn, who moves from mayor to councillor, returning Councillors Sheldon Keller and Iris Kauffeldt, and new member Amy Easton.
