Afternoon tea is being held to raise funds for general upkeep and restorative efforts, and this is your chance to enjoy a timeless tradition and step back in time.
The village is a step back to the Victorian Era, and visitors will get to experience an event as “realistic” to the era as possible.
Communications director Melissa Dumoulin says to commemorate the era the village is adopting the “afternoon tea” not only because of the popularity in past events, but also because of the impact in that era.
“Tea was actually a huge part of everyday life,” she says. “I think it’s very cool that we get to bring it back to the village and host an event that’s almost realistic to the time period.
“It’s going to be interesting to mix the past and the present at the event along with the Petawawa Ramble.”
The event will be hosted at two time slots on Oct. 17, and cost $40 to participate. Funding Dumoulin says, will be put “into a pot” along with other donations.
“Old buildings do need repairs as the years go on, especially when you want to keep to the historical accuracy, so repairs and upkeep to the village can be costly, and it’s fully volunteer-led.”
This isn’t the first tea event that Heritage Village has run – but it’s the first time in conjunction with Petawawa Ramble – and Dumoulin says from what she has seen so far, Afternoon Tea is expected to sell quickly.
“The amount of response we’ve got from one day on social media has been overwhelming,” she says. “I would suggest getting tickets while you still can.”
In a media release, the Petawawa Heritage Village says there will be 20 seats for each of the two sittings and tickets will be available until Oct. 12, or until sold out.
