Pamela Brough is $10,692 richer after winning the Week 14 prize in the Pembroke Regional Hospital Foundation’s Catch the Ace lottery.
Brough’s ticket was selected during the Sept. 16 draw, earning her the weekly prize and the chance to choose one of the remaining envelopes in an attempt to find the Ace of Spades.
She selected envelope No. 33, revealing the Queen of Diamonds. The Ace of Spades remains hidden, meaning the jackpot will continue to grow.
The current Catch the Ace lottery has raised $304,131 for local health care, with proceeds previously used to fund three beds for Acute Mental Health, a new lighting system for the hospital’s Obstetrics unit, and 11 new stretchers and medical chairs.
The foundation is now directing proceeds toward a $150,000 Staff Duress System designed to improve safety and emergency preparedness for hospital staff and patients during high-alert situations. So far, $34,131 has been raised for the project.
Week 15 tickets are now on sale, with a guaranteed weekly prize of $15,000, regardless of ticket sales. The prize is being sponsored by Pierre’s West End Garage.
Foundation executive director Roger Martin says the lottery is providing an opportunity for people to support health care in their community while also offering a chance to win.
Catch the Ace proceeds support the foundation’s Together We Care campaign, which aims to help provide patients with access to care and equipment close to home.
Tickets are available online and at participating retailers throughout the Ottawa Valley.
