Here’s a quick snapshot of what’s happening around town over the next 48 hours.
TODAY: Storytime takes place at the Pembroke Public Library this Monday, August 31, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. Children ages two to five and their caregivers can enjoy an interactive story, songs and movement designed to encourage language development and social skills.
TODAY: Movie Matinee: Tow is scheduled at the Pembroke Public Library from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The adult film screening is based on the true story of a woman fighting to reclaim her car and rebuild her life after an extraordinarily expensive towing bill.
TODAY: The Petawawa Heritage Village Museum’s summer guided-tour season runs through Monday, August 31, with tours offered Tuesday through Saturday during July and August. The museum provides an opportunity to explore Petawawa’s history through its historic buildings and exhibits. Because August 31 is a Monday, however, no regular guided tour is scheduled that day.
TOMORROW: Teen Craft: Axolotl Sticker Art begins at the Pembroke Public Library on Tuesday, September 1, with craft kits available in the teen lounge from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Teens and tweens can pick up a kit and work on the project at the library, at home or wherever they like.
TOMORROW: Story Time and Craft takes place at the Pembroke Public Library from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Children can enjoy a story followed by a hands-on craft activity as the library begins its September programming.
TOMORROW: Music Healing Veterans takes place at the Petawawa Wellness Lounge from 10:00 a.m. to noon. Veterans can play music alongside other veterans, learn new skills and enjoy the camaraderie that comes with making music together.
TOMORROW: The Democracy We Must Keep with David O. Stewart takes place virtually through the Pembroke Public Library from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Participants can join award-winning historian David O. Stewart for a discussion of his latest work and the democratic questions explored in the book.
TOMORROW: The Pembroke Public Library’s Crochet and Knitting Group meets Tuesday, September 1, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Adults of all skill levels are welcome to work together, exchange ideas and tips, ask questions and pick up new techniques.
TOMORROW: PPL Book Club: The Correspondent meets Tuesday evening from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Pembroke Public Library. The September meeting centres on the book The Correspondent, giving local readers a chance to discuss the novel together.
TOMORROW: Spice Club begins its next library program at the Pembroke Public Library on September 1, continuing through September 18, with the library listing the program from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. It is included as an ongoing library activity rather than a single scheduled session.
TOMORROW: The Renfrew County and District Health Unit’s Ontario Seniors Dental Care Clinic and Dentist Clinic is scheduled in Pembroke from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on September 1. The service is by appointment, with the dental program providing eligible seniors with services such as examinations, treatment and other covered dental care.
TOMORROW: The Town of Petawawa’s 2026 municipal-election voters’ list process begins Tuesday, September 1. The voters’ list becomes available to candidates by request, and residents can apply to the Clerk’s Office to have their information added, removed or corrected through election day.
