The Petawawa Heritage Village will transform its historic grounds into a Halloween attraction this fall, with trick-or-treating and a haunted trail planned for Oct. 31.
Halloween in the Village will run from 4 to 8 p.m. and will feature decorated historic buildings, Halloween displays, themed photo areas and a scavenger hunt.
The evening will begin with family-friendly trick-or-treating along accessible, barrier-free paths. Organizers are encouraging families with younger children to arrive early, before the event becomes spookier after sunset.
Visitors looking for a fright can take on the Haunted Trail, which will feature twists, turns, haunted scenes and unexpected encounters. Organizers say the earlier portion of the trail will be suitable for younger visitors and families, while later experiences may be more frightening.
Admission to the Haunted Trail will be by donation, with proceeds supporting the Petawawa Heritage Village.
“Halloween in the Village has become a fun way for families to experience the Heritage Village in a completely different atmosphere,” representatives of the village said in a statement. “Whether you’re coming for the treats or daring to take on the Haunted Trail, there’s something for everyone.”
The event will be held at the Petawawa Heritage Village, 176 Civic Centre Road.
Visitors are encouraged to attend in costume.
