TODAY: 2026 Iron Warrior gets underway at Garrison Petawawa Friday, running from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The annual military competition challenges soldiers physically and mentally, with this year’s Friday event featuring the marathon category for individual competitors and pairs.
TODAY: Friday Nights at the Petawawa Container Market returns from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The weekly market brings together local vendors and small businesses, making it a relaxed way to shop local and spend some time outdoors.
TODAY: Waterfront LIVE! continues at Pembroke’s Riverwalk Amphitheatre Friday, August 28, at 7:00 p.m., featuring The Damon Betz Odyssey performing pop/folk. The free concert is another opportunity to enjoy live music beside the Ottawa River.
TODAY: Skylight Drive-In presents a double feature of GOAT and The Sheep Detectives Friday night. Gates open at 7:00 p.m., with the movies beginning at 8:00 p.m. It’s an all-ages drive-in movie experience in Pembroke.

TOMORROW: Garrison Day takes place at Dundonald Hall fields in Petawawa from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The annual family event includes military displays, a petting zoo, inflatables, face painting, family entertainment and a free barbecue.
TOMORROW: 2026 Iron Warrior continues at Garrison Petawawa from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, when the competition switches to its sprint format for individual competitors or section-level teams of eight. The event is marking the 43rd anniversary of the Iron Warrior competition.
TOMORROW: The Algonquin College Alumni and Friends Golf Tournament is scheduled for Saturday, August 29, at Island Brae Golf Club in Chapeau. The event brings together alumni, Chamber members, friends and community partners for nine holes of golf, dinner, prizes and networking. Registration is $75 per person, with proceeds from the raffle supporting the Algonquin College Pembroke student food cupboard.
