Mark Conrad is $12,000 richer after winning the Week 10 guaranteed jackpot in the Pembroke Regional Hospital Foundation’s Catch the Ace lottery.
The weekly prize was sponsored by The Brick Pembroke.
The Ace of Spades was not drawn, meaning the progressive jackpot will continue to grow heading into Week 11. The foundation says the prize could exceed $135,000 if the Ace of Spades is revealed next week.
The latest draw brings the total raised through the current Catch the Ace round to more than $173,000 for local health care.
Money raised has helped fund two new beds for the hospital’s Acute Mental Health Unit and a new lighting system for its Obstetrics program.
Proceeds are now being directed toward the foundation’s goal of purchasing 11 new stretchers for departments throughout Pembroke Regional Hospital. The project is expected to cost about $170,000, with $73,156 already raised through Catch the Ace.
The lottery is also contributing to the foundation’s Together We Care campaign, which supports priority equipment and technology needs at the hospital. The campaign is now about 75 per cent of the way toward its fundraising goal.
Foundation executive director Roger Martin says the strong response to Catch the Ace shows the community’s continued support for local health care.
The foundation congratulated Conrad and thanked players, volunteers and sponsors for supporting the lottery.
