Road rehabilitation work on Forest Lea Road in Laurentian Valley is scheduled to begin Monday and continue through Sept. 25.
The project will include full-depth reclamation of the existing asphalt, replenishing the granular road base, ditching where needed, repaving and adding shoulders to the new roadway.
The work will be carried out by Township of Laurentian Valley operations staff, along with contractors G.P. Splinter and Greenwood Paving.
Sections of Forest Lea Road will be closed daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. from Aug. 25 to Aug. 28 to allow for crossroad culvert replacements. There will be no through traffic, including emergency vehicles, within the active work area.
Drivers will be directed to use Doran Road, County Road 26, Lubitz Road and Henan Road as detours.
Access to properties along Forest Lea Road will vary by day, with portions of the road accessible from either Henan Road or Doran Road.
The township is asking motorists to obey signs and directions from traffic control personnel and allow extra time when travelling through the construction area.
Garbage and recycling collection will continue as usual, with one exception. On Aug. 27, residents must have their materials at the curb by 6 a.m.
The township says it will make efforts to minimize disruptions during the project.
Residents with questions or concerns can contact the municipal office at 613-735-6291.
