A long-running community golf tournament organized by the Civitan Club of Cobden has raised $4,000 in support of the Pembroke Regional Hospital Foundation.
The funds will help support patient care at Pembroke Regional Hospital, with organizers and hospital officials highlighting the event as another example of community fundraising benefiting local health care.
The foundation thanked the Civitan Club for its continued support, as well as the sponsors, volunteers and participants who contributed to the tournament’s success.
“The Civitan Club has been a valued supporter of local health care for many years, and their continued dedication helps make a real difference for patients and families across our region,” the foundation said in a social media post.
Several Pembroke Regional Hospital staff members participated in this year’s tournament alongside community members.
Representing the hospital were chief executive officer Sabine Mersmann, Director of Mental Health Services Sarah Selle, People and Mental Health Services representative Brent McIntyre and former board chair Dean Sauriol. Also taking part were Paula Adshade of the Clinical Administration Office, Manager of Risk, Patient Relations Delegate and Education Rachel Robertson, Clinical Manager of Perioperative and ICU Programs Heather Macmillan, and Clinical Manager Annette Davidson, who also serves as the hospital’s EPIC Project clinical lead.
The foundation said community fundraising events such as the annual golf tournament continue to play an important role in supporting local health care services and encouraged residents interested in organizing future fundraising initiatives to get involved.
