Now that The Pembroke Royals have become the newest team to join the CCHL, the next step is to hire a head coach and that box has been checked.
Kevin Rosebrugh has signed on as Head Coach of the fledgling team and he comes to Hockey Town with high expectations backed up by years of experience behind the bench. Rosebrugh has been GM/Head Coach of the Port Colborne Sailors since 2023 and several years as Head Coach with the Southern Tier Admirals U15 AAA squad.
Rosebrugh is keenly aware of the season that was for the team where the off the ice drama eclipsed the game of hockey as the squad saw it’s worst season ever with a 10-42-2 record. Rosebrugh says that he is not terribly concerned about whether the fans will take issue with the loss of the Lumber King moniker – rather he believes that a fresh start and a clean slate is just what’s need to re-ignite the storied Junior A team fire from past seasons.
Coach will be coming to town having taken a hard look from a distance at what lies ahead of him from game footage and player stats but he says that the only way to start off on the right foot is to be there when the lads hit the ice for their first practices of the season.
Rosebrugh says that he will be going through the process of selecting assistant coach staff and filling other positions upon arrival in the following weeks leading up to the September 27th opening game.
