Airborne Petawawa is celebrating its role in a new World Skydiving Day record achieved on Saturday, July 11, 2026.
Skydivers around the world completed a combined 31,075 jumps in a single day, establishing a new global record. Canadian participants contributed 2,775 of those skydives, including 27 completed through Airborne Petawawa.
Co-Owner of Airborne Petawawa Aria Zaharia says that getting so many countries to come together for one common goal on a singular day was awe inspiring to say the least.
The milestone brought together first-time tandem participants, student skydivers and experienced licensed jumpers, all taking part in a worldwide effort to set a new benchmark for the sport. Over 200 countries participated in the event which just saw it’s third year and Canada actually eclipsed Australia in the number of jumps much to the surprise of Zaharia.
Every country received a certificate proving that they were involved in the world wide feat but Aria says that there is something more important than the official document.
Zaharia and her team hope to continue their record breaking feat every year going forward.
