Here’s a look at what’s going on in the town for the next 48 hours!
The week is rolling along with plenty of opportunities to get out, learn something new, spend time with family or simply enjoy a summer evening in the community.
Tuesday is packed with activities across Petawawa before the spotlight shifts to Pembroke after sunset. Families can drop into the Petawawa Public Library’s Summer Activities, where kids can enjoy hands-on programming throughout the day, while younger children and caregivers can take part in Family Play Troop through EarlyON or build early reading skills during Jolly Phonics. Adults have a couple of unique opportunities as well, including Bring Your Creations to Life: Learn Why Intellectual Property Matters, a free workshop exploring patents, trademarks and copyrights for entrepreneurs, artists and inventors, and the Creative Creations – Tree of Me art session. Residents can also access community supports through Hello Haul – Resources for All: Summer Edition and Extended Hours for Navigational Support.
Tuesday wraps up with one of Pembroke’s favourite summer traditions as Movie Night in the Park returns to the waterfront. This week’s free feature is the family baseball comedy Rookie of the Year. Bring a blanket or lawn chair, settle in under the stars and enjoy an evening outdoors with family and friends.
Wednesday offers another full day of community activities. In Pembroke, the afternoon begins with Music Café, a relaxed gathering featuring music, conversation and refreshments, followed by the Pembroke Farmers’ Market, where local vendors offer fresh produce, baking, handmade goods and more.
Wednesday evening also marks an important milestone for the city as Pembroke officially launches its Pembroke 200 campaign. The Pembroke 200th Anniversary Launch Event celebrates the start of the community’s journey toward its bicentennial in 2028, featuring anniversary displays, cake, remarks from community leaders and a ceremonial performance by the 2 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group Pipes and Drums. It’s the first opportunity for residents to learn more about the celebrations being planned over the next two years and how they can become part of them.
Petawawa’s schedule continues with Baby Time at the library for infants and caregivers, another session of Family Play Troop, Jolly Phonics, and Hello Haul – Resources for All: Summer Edition, along with additional community games and activities offered through the South Side Community Centre.
