Multiple members of the Pembroke Heritage Murals Committee were recognized at a recent event for their efforts to help preserve the Timber Raft mural near the waterfront.
Structural damage was identified at the mural in the summer of 2025. It was disassembled in the fall, and in the months since, restoration work has been underway to alleviate that structural damage.
The mural is on display again as of July 2026. On the afternoon of the 17th, the committee held a recognition event to thank everybody that took part in the restoration efforts.
Mayor Ron Gervais attended on behalf of the City of Pembroke, presenting a number of certificates thanking various participants in the project.
One certificate was presented to contractor Greg Walsh, whose company Walsh Brothers Construction has been the primary contractor for the committee for decades.
Another was presented to local photographer Dennis Corrigan, who has been with the committee for over thirty years and has taken pictures of the city’s various murals over the years for everything from tourism to documentation.
A third certificate was given to recognize the contributions of longtime committee member Jane Kielman, who credited Corrigan with convincing her to join the group.
In addition to the certificates, committee chair Pamela Dempsey was also presented with a Mayor’s Award for her efforts over the years.
The restored mural is now on display on Albert Street near Lake Street, at the entrance to Waterfront Park.
