The 11th Annual Multicultural Festival wrapped up Sunday night, bringing to an end months of preparation by Pembroke Public Library CEO Karthi Rajamani and her staff.
A late Saturday afternoon downpour wasn’t even enough to stop the festivities as thousands descended on Waterfront Park Friday and Saturday for the sights and sounds of the world coming together in Pembroke.
Karthi was optimistic about the iffy weather right from the outset as she moved through the park, overseeing the setup of vendors and volunteers.
The real heroes, says Karthi, are the many Pembroke Library staff members who invested months of time and preparation for an event such as this. Taylor is one such staff member who was truly excited to see it all come to fruition fro the two days.
Sara and Anusha were also hard at work for many months preparing for the day making sure that everyone was settling in for the festivities.
Karthi estimated that nearly 3,000 people attended on Friday night alone, which could mean attendance records for this year’s festival may have been broken. More on that when the final tally is released.
