The fifth weekly winner in the Pembroke Regional Hospital Foundation’s ongoing Catch the Ace fundraising raffle is taking home nearly $8,000.
The hospital foundation has announced that Matthew Edwards is the lucky winner for this week’s prize, snagging $7,826.
According to the foundation, Edwards pulled the two of diamonds after buying his ticket online.
For this week’s draw, the progressive jackpot – available to whichever lucky individual pulls the elusive ace of spades – surpassed the $50,000 mark.
It’s expected keep climbing: foundation executive director Roger Martin says it’s predicted to soar past the $60,000 mark, and he personally believes it could even surpass $70,000.
Proceeds from the weekly raffle go towards the Foundation’s Together We Care campaign.
To date, the campaign has helped fund the purchase of multiple acute care beds for the hospital, a patient wandering system and more.
The previous iteration of the Catch the Ace fundraiser ran for 46 weeks and brought in $1.6 million for the Together We Care campaign. When the ace was ultimately caught, the winner – a Westmeath woman – scored more than a million dollars in prize money.
Tickets are now on sale for the week six draw.
