The Deep River & District Health Foundation has appointed Megan Jones as its new Executive Director, citing the organization’s continued growth and her leadership in expanding its fundraising and community engagement efforts.
Jones’ previous role with Deep River & District Health was Events and Fundraising Assistant, making this a significant career leap. She admits she is still adjusting to the idea. Jones speaks about joining the organization with some previous fundraising experience, which certainly helped her gain a foothold.
Jones has taken on increasing leadership responsibilities since joining the Foundation, overseeing day-to-day operations, donor engagement, sponsorships and volunteer initiatives while pursuing professional development in fundraising and organizational strategy.
Before taking on the new role, Jones says she made it a priority to further her education by completing courses through Trent University. She says the training was instrumental in preparing her to take on the challenges that come with serving as Executive Director. Despite being with the organization for only two years, she has embraced the position with a clear set of goals and nothing but praise for her mentor, who she says was instrumental in helping her grow into the role.
Among the many projects ahead is the Foundation’s current campaign, “Get On Board: Connecting Community,” which aims to raise funds for accessible transportation for residents of the Four Seasons Lodge.
The vehicles will need to be flexible above all else, Jones says, with the ability to accommodate additional wheelchairs or even stretchers and beds when necessary. That means adjustable or modular vehicle configurations will be essential when the time comes to select the appropriate vehicles.
The days ahead for Jones are sure to be challenging, with several other projects already in the early stages of planning. However, she has the drive and enthusiasm to take it all in stride and is determined to succeed in a role she believes she was meant to fill.
Best of luck to Megan in her new role. If her early success is any indication, there will likely be many more positive stories coming out of Deep River & District Health in the years ahead.
