Canadian Nuclear Laboratories’ communications team has been honoured by both of Canada’s leading nuclear organizations for helping to reach kids across the Ottawa Valley and teach them about science.
Philip Kompass, the Director of Corporate Communications for CNL, says the team was selected as recipients of this year’s Education and Communication Award, jointly presented by the Canadian Nuclear Association and Canadian Nuclear Society.
The work that earned his team the award? The Kids CONTACT newsletter published every winter and summer by CNL, showing kids a cross-disciplinary look at the science conducted at facilities like Chalk River Laboratories.
Kompass says the newsletter has been extremely popular for presenting science in an approachable way and connecting a wide variety of different topics to the work done at CNL.
The newsletter was launched in 2019. Kompass said it was a valuable tool to help educate kids during the COVID-19 pandemic and has continued to be useful in the years since.
Digital copies of Kids CONTACT are available on CNL’s website.
