Here’s a look at what’s going on in the town for the next 48 hours!
It’s shaping up to be a busy weekend around Pembroke and Petawawa, with plenty of ways to get out, enjoy the summer weather and spend some time in the community.
Friday gets underway at the Pembroke Public Library, where little ones can enjoy Hugs, Snuggles and Rhymes from 10:30 until 11:30. Later in the day, Tech Time runs from 2 until 4, offering one-on-one help with phones, tablets and other devices. Over in Petawawa, Brain Fitness for Active Aging begins at 1:30 at the Civic Centre.
Friday afternoon also brings a couple of great reasons to head outside. Park Social Club starts at 3 o’clock, giving kids a chance to enjoy supervised games and activities at a Pembroke city park, while the Petawawa Container Market opens from 3 until 8, featuring local vendors, food and shopping. If you’re looking to practise your French, the French Conversation Group meets on the Pembroke waterfront from 4 until 5.
As the sun goes down, bring a lawn chair to the Riverwalk Amphitheatre for Waterfront LIVE!. Rick Soul takes the stage Friday evening at 7, performing a mix of adult contemporary favourites in the heart of Pembroke’s waterfront.
Saturday starts with the Pembroke Farmers’ Market, running from 9 until 1, where you’ll find fresh produce, baking, handmade goods and plenty of local vendors. The Petawawa Container Market is back for another day of shopping, food and community, and Saturday night’s Waterfront LIVE! concert features Pierre DesMarais, bringing folk and soft rock to the Riverwalk Amphitheatre beginning at 7.
Sunday morning, young athletes will be putting their skills to the test during the 15th Annual Kids of Steel Triathlon at Garrison Petawawa, with competitors taking on swimming, cycling and running events while family and friends cheer them on. Then Sunday evening, Amanda and Friends close out the weekend with another free Waterfront LIVE! concert, bringing country and rock to the Riverwalk Amphitheatre starting at 7.
That’s your community roundup — more local events coming up tomorrow!
