The Co-Chair for the Carefor Community Garden is inviting Ottawa Valley residents to attend a presentation early next month at Algonquin College’s Pembroke campus featuring a renowned gardening expert and CBC personality.
Paul Zammit, the host of CBC’s Garden Talk podcast, will speak at the upcoming “Cultivating Community” event at the college on Wednesday, July 8th.
Brian Abdallah says the event came together after he applied for a TD Friends of the Environment Foundation grant on behalf of the garden.
The garden is also partnering with the City of Pembroke’s Beautification and Climate Action Committee and the Pembroke Horticultural Society for the event.
Abdallah says his first choice for the event was former CBC host Ed Lawrence, who is now retired.
According to Abdallah, Zammit will also be taken on a tour of the city with some members of the Horticultural Society.
He’s thanking the TD Friends of the Environment Foundation for the $11,000 grant that helped fund this presentation, as it has also helped his team expand the garden.
The event is free to attend, but anyone interested in doing so is asked to register in advance on the Algonquin College website.
