The Downtown Pembroke Business Improvement Area (BIA) is getting ready to celebrate a new provincial initiative to promote and commemorate local products and manufacturing.
Bethea Summers, the BIA’s Executive Director, says the provincial government proclaimed last year that the last Friday of every June will be Buy Ontario, Buy Canadian Day.
In Pembroke, Summers says several businesses who are either manufacturers themselves or who sell mostly Ontario-made products will be featured as part of a downtown business tour.
The tour is invite-only, but Summers encourages residents to visit the downtown area and spend their money at local businesses to help support companies that make their products here in Ontario.
