The Upper Ottawa Valley Chamber of Commerce has named longtime Petawawa business owner Cheryl Jordan as the recipient of its Lifetime Achievement Award.
Jordan opened The Country Cupboard in 1996 and has spent nearly three decades building the business into a well-known destination for home décor, gifts and handcrafted products. Jordan was visibly moved by the honour and said that, as a small business owner, one sometimes feels like they’re on their own until something like this happens.
The Chamber says Jordan has played an important role in supporting Canadian artisans and small businesses by providing a marketplace for locally made goods. Her efforts have helped strengthen the region’s creative economy while promoting independent makers.
Christine Mitchell, Acting Secretary of the Upper Ottawa Valley Chamber of Commerce, was on hand for the announcement and says it was a great opportunity to reveal the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award ahead of the upcoming Gala, where several other awards will be presented.
In addition to her business accomplishments, the Chamber cited her ongoing support of charitable causes, fundraisers and community organizations throughout the Ottawa Valley. Jordan will make her official acceptance speech at the 2026 Business Excellence Gala Awards, which will be held Sept. 26 at the Normandy Officers’ Mess.
