Pembroke Regional Hospital says a newly revised Patient Rights and Responsibilities document has been created with patients and families at the forefront of the process.
The hospital says the update was completed in partnership with its Patient and Family Advisory Council, whose members helped shape both the content and presentation of the document based on their own healthcare experiences.
Hospital president and chief executive officer Sabine Mersmann says the project highlights the council’s broader role in helping improve communication, planning and care delivery by ensuring patient perspectives are reflected in decision-making.
The updated document outlines patient rights and responsibilities through the principles of compassion, collaboration, commitment and courage, while emphasizing partnership between patients, families and healthcare providers.
The hospital says the refreshed guide will be displayed throughout the facility and supports both its strategic plan and the goals of Ontario’s Excellent Care for All Act, which promotes patient-centred healthcare.
