The Pembroke Regional Hospital Foundation has received a $50,000 commitment from two former area residents to support a campaign aimed at upgrading medical equipment and technology at Pembroke Regional Hospital.
André Mickovitch and Lesley Cassidy have pledged the funding over five years through the Foundation’s Together We Care Campaign, a $10-million fundraising initiative.
In a joint statement, the donors said they continue to recognize the importance of strong local healthcare services despite now living outside the region.
“We are fortunate to have a hospital that serves the community with compassion and excellence,” they said. “While we now live outside the region, we visit regularly and continue to see the tremendous value of having strong local healthcare available when it’s needed.”
The pair also encouraged others to support the campaign.
Foundation executive director Roger Martin said the donation reflects a strong commitment to community healthcare.
“Their pledge demonstrates outstanding leadership and a community-minded approach,” Martin said. “Gifts like theirs help ensure our healthcare teams have access to the equipment they need to provide exceptional care to every patient.”
The Together We Care Campaign is seeking to raise $10 million for equipment and technology upgrades at the hospital. According to the Foundation, the campaign has surpassed 70 per cent of its fundraising goal.
The Foundation is continuing to seek support from individuals and businesses through one-time donations, multi-year pledges and gifts of securities.
