Residents of Pembroke are being invited to Riverside and Waterfront Parks next week to commemorate the 159th anniversary of Canada’s confederation.
City of Pembroke staff have created a full lineup of programming for people to enjoy in the park on Tuesday, June 30th and Wednesday, July 1st.
The festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, with a free hot dog barbecue, tie-dying, inflatable bouncy houses for the kids, a live magic show and music from the Otis Strange Party Band at Riverside.
A screening of the movie Zootopia 2 will begin a few hours later at 9:30.
On July 1st, the festivities begin at Waterfront Park with an opening ceremony at noon. From then until 4:00 p.m., attendees can enjoy free boat rides from the boat launch, craft and food vendors, and the “Generations Tent,” an opportunity to explore local history created in partnership with the Upper Ottawa Valley Heritage Society.
There will also be a live magic show, a freestyle soccer performance, an animal showcase from Little Ray’s Reptiles and multiple live music performances from local bands.
Later in the day at 7:00 p.m., in Riverside Park, food trucks will arrive and a performance by the band Stereo Typical will begin. Fireworks will start a few hours later in the park at 10:00 p.m.
