The St. Francis Valley Healthcare Foundation’s annual Rockathon fundraiser brought in more than $24,000 to support healthcare for seniors in Madawaska Valley.
According to Communications and Fundraising Officer Christine Hudder, a huge crowd came to the manor for the five-hour event, rocking in chairs to raise money for new equipment at Valley Manor. $24,470 was rasied in total.
Hudder said a lot of work went into planning the event, and she’s very pleased it turned into a major success this year.
One person who took part in the event this year was Gwen Coulas, rocking in memory of her late sister, who spent her last years at the manor.
It took some time for her to adjust to living at the manor, but she said staff told her she spent much of her time there happy.
She said it was awesome to see the number of people who had come out to support Valley Manor for the fundraiser.
The Valley Manor facility contains 90 beds to help care for seniors and is located in Barry’s Bay.
