A 48-year-old Quebec resident is facing multiple criminal charges following a domestic disturbance investigation in Cobden.
The Ontario Provincial Police say officers with the Renfrew Detachment responded to a report involving two individuals shortly after 8 p.m. Friday.
Police allege the accused committed several offences, including assault with a weapon, assault, uttering threats, forcible confinement and dangerous operation of a vehicle. Additional charges relate to the possession, storage and use of firearms, including two counts of possessing a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order.
The accused, who is from Chapeau, Que., was taken into custody and held for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice.
Police have not identified the accused in order to protect the identity of the victim.
The OPP continues to encourage anyone experiencing domestic violence or abuse to seek assistance and contact police if they are in immediate danger.
