A road closure on a section of Pembroke Street West has been extended as infrastructure work continues in the city.
The City of Pembroke says Pembroke Street West between Crandall Street and Douglas Street will remain closed until 5 p.m. on June 23. The closure began at 7 a.m. on June 17 to allow crews to carry out infrastructure improvements.
Detours and construction signage have been put in place, and motorists are being advised to expect delays in the area.
City officials are asking drivers to follow directions from traffic control personnel and obey posted construction signs. The city is also encouraging motorists to use alternate routes and avoid travelling through private parking lots as a shortcut around the closure.
Businesses located within the construction zone remain open during the work, according to the city.
The municipality thanked residents and motorists for their patience while the infrastructure project is completed.
