The team at Valley Manor is getting ready to rock for a cause this weekend.
The 5th annual Rockathon for the manor is set to take place on Friday, June 19th, with participants spending the day in rocking chairs to raise money for local health services.
St Francis Valley Healthcare Foundation Executive Director Erin Gienow says the original concept for the event dates back to an idea from an auxiliary for Valley Manor several years ago.
Communications and Fundraising Officer Christine Hudder says it should be familiar to anyone who’s taken part in the event in the past.
The event will see rockers in chairs from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Hudder and Gienow say there are 18 teams signed up so far this year, a record high.
The pair add that they do have a few rocking chairs on hand for any participants who need them, although many like to bring their own.
They’re thanking the fourteen sponsors who have helped fund the Rockathon for making it a reality again this year.
Rockers will need to report to the Valley Manor’s courtyard for the event, although they say it’ll be brought indoors in the event of any rain.
