With gas prices expected to soar during the busy summer travel season, one local resort is looking to ease that particular worry for tourists.
Calabogie Peaks Resort is offering a free $100 gas card to people who book a mid-week, two night stay. Co-owner Liz Murphy says it’s a nice way to entice people to make the drive.
Murphy says she isn’t too concerned about high gas prices hurting tourism because she believes that people plan for these yearly trips and are committed to them. However, she notes the gas card promotion has seen a huge response.
The promotion is valid only for Sunday to Thursday night stays.
This is expected to be one of the most expensive summers ever for gas prices. Yesterday, the average cost of gas in Canada was just over $1.80 a litre, compared to $1.35 a litre last year at this time.
