The Petawawa Accessibility Advisory Committee is inviting residents to celebrate National AccessAbility Week with a community event later this month focused on inclusion, awareness and accessibility.
The event is scheduled for May 30 beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the Petawawa Container Market.
Organizers say the gathering will build on the success of previous National AccessAbility Week activities and provide residents with an opportunity to learn more about accessibility initiatives in the community.
The event will feature meet-and-greet opportunities with Ontario paracycling athletes, demonstrations of handcycles and displays of specialized cycling equipment.
Members of the accessibility advisory committee will also be on site to discuss local accessibility efforts and connect with residents.
National AccessAbility Week is held annually across Canada to recognize the contributions of people with disabilities and promote efforts to improve accessibility and inclusion in communities and workplaces.
Organizers say residents are encouraged to attend whether for a short visit or the full event, adding the celebration is intended to help foster a more welcoming and supportive community for all.
