On May 8, hundreds of early years and child care professionals from across Renfrew County, along with Ministry of Education and Community Services staff, gathered at the Petawawa Civic Centre for the 13th annual May Day, a full day of connection, recognition, and professional learning. Child care professionals from across Renfrew County gathered in Petawawa last Friday for the 13th Annual May Day Early Years and Child Care Conference. The annual event involved 550 educators, home child care providers, EarlyON professionals, Early Childhood Education students, Ministry of Education and Community Services staff for a full day of connection, recognition, and professional learning.
County of Renfrew Warden Jennifer Murphy says “May Day is an opportunity to come together as a sector to recognize the incredible work happening every day in our communities”. The County’s Community Services Committee Chair Councillor Anne Giardini says “this event is an important way to show our appreciation for the dedication and professionalism of those in the early years workforce”.
Sessions included speakers on Autism and strategies for professionals on mindfulness and resilience-building. There were also awards presented for leadership, dedication and innovation.
