Pembroke Regional Hospital says patients visiting its emergency department on Friday may experience longer-than-usual wait times because of reduced physician coverage.
Hospital officials said the emergency department remains open and patients requiring urgent care are still encouraged to seek treatment.
The hospital said patients will continue to be assessed and treated based on the urgency of their condition, while staff work to provide care amid staffing pressures.
Officials thanked patients for their patience and said the emergency department team is continuing to provide care to all who arrive at the hospital.
Residents with non-emergency health concerns who are unable to access their regular family physician or nurse practitioner are being encouraged to contact the Renfrew County Virtual Triage and Assessment Centre.
The virtual service operates around the clock and provides access to family physicians, medical receptionists and community paramedics by phone. Patients can reach the service at 1-844-727-6404.
