The township of Bonnechere Valley wants to make the community’s voices heard before the Bank of Montreal closes up shop in Eganville.
A community rally will be held in front of and across from the bank branch on Bridge Street at 6:00 pm on May 19 in protest of BMO’s plans to close the local branch in June without proper consultation.
Township staff say the decision would leave seniors, small businesses, and residents in Eganville and the surrounding communities without access to vital banking services.
They are now urging BMO and federal regulators to delay the closure, hold a full and proper public consultation as required by law, and offer solutions that would maintain local banking access.
