A Petawawa resident is facing multiple charges following an impaired driving investigation in the Upper Ottawa Valley.
Ontario Provincial Police say officers from the Upper Ottawa Valley detachment responded to a report of a possible impaired driver on April 25 at about 5:40 p.m. The call indicated a single-vehicle collision after a vehicle entered a ditch along Highway 17 near Sutherland Road in Whitewater Region.
Police allege the driver left the scene and was later the subject of a second traffic complaint on the highway.
Officers subsequently located the damaged vehicle at a residence in Petawawa, where the driver was identified. As part of the investigation, a standard field sobriety test was conducted and the individual was taken into custody.
Chelsea Whitehead, 37, of Petawawa has been charged with operation while impaired by alcohol and drugs, failure or refusal to comply with a demand, failing to report an accident and failing to remain at the scene.
Police say the accused’s driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
Whitehead was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Pembroke on June 2.
