Our second spotlight for Mental Health Week is focused on Neuro Unique World, a local organization offering support services for autistic and neuro-diverse people.
Samantha Grabko, the owner and operator of the organization, says she had spent several years working in the world of clinical support before moving to Petawawa in 2021.
Grabko says she identified a “gap in services” in the Ottawa Valley that she felt needed to be filled.
Each week, Neuro Unique World serves 15 to 20 individuals in group tutoring sessions, plus some families who work in smaller groups on a less consistent schedule.
Grabko is also autistic herself, and spoke about her lived experience and how it’s been informed by that:
She says that as a child she personally gravitated towards other neuro-diverse people during her upbringing before being diagnosed, and that she finds neuro-diverse people tend to work well together.
Grabko also says that Neuro Unique World is open to clients with and without formal diagnoses:
More information on Neuro Unique World and the services it offers can be found on the organization’s website.
