PRHF's Roger Martin and PRH CEO Sabine Mersman proudly display the overall total
Hundreds gathered in downtown Pembroke Sunday morning for the annual Heroes Run for Healthcare, benefiting the Pembroke Regional Hospital.
Organizers Roger Martin and Leigh Costello from the PRHF, along with dozens of volunteers, were on hand under clear blue skies and perfectly cool temperatures to welcome participants who took part in the kids’ 2 km run, followed by the 5 km timed run, which began at 10 a.m.
Dr. Jim Monroe and his wife, Debbie, were among the many generous donors to the event, and Debbie says they are both very pleased to once again be part of this important fundraising effort.
For Dr. Monroe, it’s an event that remains very close to his heart after many years of involvement:
First place in the 5 km race went to Nolan Kenney with a time of 18:04.
According to PRHF’s Costello, a total of $56,499 has been raised so far, which will go toward much-needed new equipment at PRH, including a new CT scanner. The hospital says the current scanner is nearing the end of its lifespan after thousands of scans.
PRHF organizers want to thank all of the generous sponsors, donors, and especially the hundreds who came out to support the hospital and run for an amazing cause. Congratulations to all!
