The City of Pembroke has launched its preliminary street sweeping program, with work beginning Monday, April 20.
Full street and sidewalk sweeping is set to start April 27 and is expected to continue for six to eight weeks, weather permitting. Street sweeping will run overnight from Monday to Friday beginning at 8 p.m., while sidewalk work will take place during daytime hours.
Officials say crews will begin in the city centre before moving outward, focusing first on priority and arterial roads, followed by residential streets.
Residents are encouraged to help by clearing sand and debris from sidewalks, boulevards and driveways, and placing materials at the roadside for collection.
The city says these efforts will help speed up cleanup and reduce debris entering local waterways. Motorists are also reminded to use caution around slow-moving sweepers.
