A slew of new players have been selected to join the Pembroke Lumber Kings for the 2026-27 Central Canada Hockey League season.
The CCHL’s annual draft was held on Tuesday, April 21st at 6:00 p.m. at the Nepean Sportsplex.
The pool of eligible players was made up of people born in 2008, 2009 and 2010 who had competed on a sanctioned Hockey Eastern Ontario team during the 2025-26 season.
The first two rounds of the draft saw teams protecting players born in 2010 from being selected by other teams. The Lumber Kings protected right wing Ben Schori in the first round and forward Kaleb Peplinskie in the second.
Following those picks, from the third round onward, teams could select any eligible player that wasn’t protected by another organization. The Lumber Kings made the following picks, in order:
- Jake Lowrey, defenseman
- Theo Gravelle, defenseman
- Ben Schmidt, forward
- Joshua Groulx, goalie
- Isaiah Joseph, forward
- Tyler McEnery, defenseman
- Quintin de Ruiter, defenseman
- Sebastian Anton Marcon, forward
- Benjamin Shreenan, forward
- Jax Kathnelson, forward
- Logan Bell, defenseman
- Gabriel Schoreder, defenseman
Last year’s draft saw the Lumber Kings select William Ryan in the first round. Ryan went on to score 6 goals and notch 15 assists during his rookie season.
