The Renfrew County District School Board has elected a new student trustee to help represent student voices at the board table.
Grade 10 student Jack Couper was chosen by members of the Student Senate during a meeting held April 9 at the board office. He will serve alongside returning student trustee Bronwynn Dick and Indigenous student trustee Emma Grant.
Board chair Leo Boland says the trustees bring a range of perspectives that will help ensure decisions reflect student needs across the district.
Couper, a student at Arnprior District High School, has focused on promoting academic equity and supporting student well-being. He has been active in school initiatives and community service, including a project recognized by the Town of Arnprior in 2021.
Grant, a Grade 9 student at Mackenzie Community School, joins the board as Indigenous student trustee. She has been recognized for her volunteer work and commitment to representing Indigenous students.
Dick, who will return for another term, is a student at Opeongo High School and has been involved in student leadership and community initiatives throughout the region.
The board also thanked outgoing student trustee Sydney Dougherty for her contributions as she prepares to graduate and continue her studies at the University of Guelph.
