Syrup and smiles were the order of the day last Saturday at the 3rd annual pancake breakfast held by the Pembroke Firefighters’ Association.
Organizer Ian Caughey says this year’s event was a huge success:
The breakfast was in support of the Pembroke Handi-Bus, which since 1989 has been providing a fully accessible, door-to-door transit service for people with disabilities. The service supports a wide range of activities, including medical appointments, grocery shopping, adult day and school programs, as well as attendance at social events such as church services, weddings, funerals, celebrations, ceremonies, and sporting events.
The pancake breakfasts took the place of the annual Polar Bear Dip in support of the Handi-Bus, which ceased three years ago due to unpredictable weather, says Caughey, and every year the gatherings are a big hit.
Plans are already in the works for next year’s 4th annual event.
