Local students had an opportunity this weekend to dive deep into an exploration of the sciences.
The annual Renfrew County Regional Science and Technology Fair was held on Saturday, April 1th at the Algonquin College campus in Pembroke.
Aidan Leach, the Chair of the fair’s committee, explained that the fair is open each year to all students in the county in grades 5 through 12.
According to Leach, in addition to simple experiments, projects created by students in attendance included ideas like a new design for canes to help people with mobility issues.
Leach said this is one of many science fairs held for this age group across the country.
Winners from this event in grades 7 through 12 advance to the Canada-Wide Science Fair, an event Leach said is being held in Edmonton this year.
Mackenzie Mancell, an Administrative Assistant at Algonquin College, said the opportunity to play a role in this year’s science fair drew a lot of enthusiasm among her colleagues.
