Patients visiting the emergency department at Pembroke Regional Hospital on Tuesday may experience longer wait times due to reduced physician coverage, the hospital said.
In a notice issued April 7, hospital officials said the emergency department continues to operate, but with fewer physicians on shift than usual.
Patients are still encouraged to seek care if they require urgent medical attention.
“Your health and safety remain our top priority,” the hospital said, adding that cases will be assessed and treated based on the urgency of each patient’s condition.
The hospital is asking for patience as staff work to provide care under the temporary staffing constraints.
For non-emergency concerns, residents who cannot access their family physician or nurse practitioner are advised to contact the Renfrew County Virtual Triage and Assessment Centre.
The service provides access to family physicians, medical receptionists and community paramedics around the clock and can be reached at 1-844-727-6404.
